LEARNING WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS
To succeed in a highly competitive and professional global environment, students need the kind of early international exposure and experience that we offer at BPS to gain a much-needed head start.
We offer a multicultural learning environment, with a holistic and an enriching curriculum that encourages the global understanding of concepts and theories, not just theoretically, but also through practical study that ignites the inquisitive mind.
Our experienced faculty, specialists in their fields, mentor students and encourage them to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners. Opinion-sharing and classroom discussions are the cornerstone of the process of delivery of these competitive study programs that foster global learning standards.
LEARNING WITH DIFFERENCE
The teaching methodology: CBIL and VBIL, i.e. 'Concept Based Integrated Learning' and 'Value Based Integrated Learning' facilitates the integration of global ideas and the rich cultural beliefs and values of India.
The curriculum is in accordance with the guidelines of the CBSE and is followed through NCERT text books. Sports and physical education have an important place in the curriculum and are compulsory for all students. Performing and creative arts are as much a part of the students' school life along with academics.
Eco club, quiz club, homemaker's club, computer club, theatre and dramatics are woven into the daily curriculum. Apart of the general education program, workshops, educational tours and excursions for students and parents are also organized regularly.
Our academic approach has the essentials of:
INTEGRATED LEARNING : The curriculum is integrated so that learning happens primarily through projects, learning centers and playful activities. Skills required to carry out projects are learnt and interests of children are reflected in the work. Interdisciplinary teaching, integrates math, science, social studies and communication applications.
LEARNING BY DOING : In BPS we don't give a series of lectures to the children to prepare them to walk, talk, climb, run, play a game or learn how to behave. We just let the children do these things because there is no better way.
DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION STRATEGY : We recognize the importance of differentiated instruction and one-on-one assistance for our students. Our teachers often spend extra time with students before and after school or try to find additional opportunities for working with individual children throughout the school day.
Different types of activities with varying degrees of complexity are provided in order to focus on different learning styles and developmental levels. The quick learners are stimulated by follow up exercises and challenging assignments. Children with different learning abilities are given individual attention, simple instructions and exposure to learning aids to which they respond.
MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE APPROACH : All the student needs are met through this program. Their intellectual needs are met by constantly being challenged and frequently exercising their creativity. At the same time, their emotional needs are met by working closely with others. They develop diverse strengths and understand themselves better as individuals.
The emphasis in such a program is upon learning rather than teaching. The students' interests and developmental needs dictate the direction of the program. Such an instruction model adapts to students, rather than expecting students to adapt to it.
THE FACILITATION OF LEARNING AT BPS HAS A FEW FEATURES:
Interactive :- Moving away from the one-way instructional strategy, the students are made to participate in diverse activities like role plays and enactments to ensure in-depth learning.
Experiential :- The thrust of teaching is towards making each student undergo the experiential cycle of getting an experience, reflecting on it, brainstorming on the reasons and thus taking a never-to-fade learning of a concept or an idea.
Differential :- The teaching-learning process is designed to ensure that students are imparted knowledge in a variety of ways, to ensure that each is able to receive and retrieve information according to his/her unique multiple intelligence strengths.
Hands-On :- Doing is an integral part of learning and the students are made to use the plethora of labs for this purpose.
Scientific :- Sequential, logical and Analytical; the instructional strategies aim at creating a scientific bent of mind, be it in fast and accurate solving of arithmetic problems by the Abacus (for classes LKG to II) or by the ancient tools of Vedic Mathematics (for classes III-X).
Project Based (PBIL) :- The skills of planning, organizing, teaming and tasking are inculcated in each student from a very early age by having various kinds of projects integrated in the curriculum.
Theatre in Education (TIE) :– Be it the active, interactive, theme based story telling sessions in the pre-primary and primary classes; or the skills of dramatics used in street plays, mimes, one-act plays etc. in the middle and senior sections; the curriculum is centered around portraying important social messages through the art of theatre.
Art in Education (AIE) :– The walls of BPS are dotted with posters, placards, collages and wall magazines, created by students, bringing forth sharp, stark messages to the community at large.
